Des Moines Radiation Levels August 2 9:45 PM Pacific Time

I just got back to my computer after being away from it all day.

Des Moines beta is now registering at 128 beta. https://cdxnode64.epa.gov/radnet-public/monitorView.do

Anything over 100 is look and see where it is coming from.

Jon ran a query in response to my post about the high levels in Des Moines. I'm including some of his results here. Keep in mind that these data have not been available on the main site I rely on and were only available retroactive through his query:

The following quote is from http://www.radiationnetwork.com/
Depending on your location, your elevation or altitude, and your model of Geiger counter, this background radiation level might average anywhere from 5 to 60 CPM, and while background radiation levels are random, it would be unusual for those levels to exceed 100 CPM. Thus, the “Alert Level” for the National Radiation Map is 100 CPM, so if you see any Monitoring Stations with CPM value above 100, further indicated by an Alert symbol over those stations, it probably means that some radioactive source above and beyond background radiation is responsible.

MAJIA HERE: I appreciate Jon's work on this. I think it is clear that Fort Calhoun or someplace in the very near vicinity is releasing very high radiation levels.

People in Iowa need to get active and demand action. This is simply unacceptable!
Yvonne provides independent confirmation of Jon's data. Here is her comment:

"They use Universal time on the EPA but here are the hourly readings for Des Moines they have posted so far today 8/2/11. 14:00 hours it is 218 CPM. 15:00 hours it is 203 CPM & 16:00 hours it is back up to 416.00 CPM"

AND Pure Thoughts provides a link to a data set for Minneapolis/St Paul Minnesota, which like Des Moines has mostly been "under review" for days and days

Any and all who read this post should consider contacting the EPA and/or their congressional representatives and demand an inquiry--these data points are EPA's own and should be investigated!
