Dr. Strangelove Revisited

Trump on nuclear weapons tweet: 'Let it be an arms race' - MSNBC. Reuters, December 23, 2016, http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-nuclear-idUSKBN14B1ZZ

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, asked to clarify his comments about expanding U.S. nuclear weapons capability, said, "Let it be an arms race," and that the United States would win it, MSNBC reported on Friday.

Trump had alarmed non-proliferation experts on Thursday with a Twitter post that said the United States "must greatly strengthen and expand its nuclear capability until such time as the world comes to its senses regarding nukes."

MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski spoke with Trump on the phone and asked him to expand on his tweet. She said he responded: "Let it be an arms race. We will outmatch them at every pass and outlast them all."

Shares of uranium producers and a nuclear fuel technology company have jumped on Trump's comments with Uranium Resources Inc, Uranium Energy Corp, Cameco Corp and Lightbridge Corp all trading higher on Friday.

    1. You're very deluded. Stop jumping to conclusions. You do not know enough to be making these judgments. You are not someone who has spent a lifetime observing and studying these situations, so stop pretending that you are and making rash decisions about a world you have never been in or apt to be in. All you are doing is entertaining thoughts that disturb your subconscious leading to even more outlandish and fabulous claims. You are probably contributing to disturbance in friends and relatives and anyone foolish enough to listen to your tirades. Get some real education. Get a teacher who knows how the world works and diligently apply yourself.

  5. Pandora's jar--Science lets out all these dangerous things in the forms of technology. Soon driverless cars and sex robots. Back some time ago brilliant, white scientists created the nuclear bombs that now often preoccupy us. These scientists were certainly no dullards. Probably liberals. Some were very cultured men. One quoted the Bhagavad Gita during the first nuclear bomb test: I have become death, the destroyer of worlds . . .

When Nigel Farage used a radio interview this week to publicly attack Brendan Cox, husband of the murdered Labour MP Jo Cox, he lashed out in the most unbelievable way. Just six months after Jo was murdered by neo-Nazi Thomas Mair, the former Ukip leader attempted to pin the extremist tag on Brendan Cox because of his association with the organisation I head, Hope not Hate.

This is how these people operate. They attempt to vilify, abuse and bully their opponents into silence. Whether it is Farage in the UK or Donald Trump in the US, they think they can demonise their opponents without any thought for the damage it causes or the anger and hatred it incites in their supporters. And it’s a David v Goliath struggle, where the other side portrays itself as the underdog yet in reality is backed by an online army and millionaires in the wings.

  7. Smart scientists knew nuclear power was not viable. They knew it was not clever by any means. It is not technology. It is a game, a cover, and long con. The business con artists know that. They understand it like a shrewd car dealer does., They can extort as much money as possible out of high ticket items and achieve a high profit margin because everyone needs a car right? And the engineering and parts that go into building a car sets it into a higher price category. So people get snookered into buying 30000 dollar suvs they probably cannot afford.

That is especially true of npps. They take forever to build. NPPs always cost 3 to 10 times what they were budgeted for. The public is expected the bear the brunt of multi billion dollar catastrophes.

No person, rate payers, tax payers, property owners by npps, victims of radionuclide pollution get what they pay for. The crooks who got taxpayer money for the fraud take the money and run. There is no money left to clean up the abominations, when the public can finally get the corrupt politicians to shut them down.

Nuclear power is simply not technology. Its like a fancy sience fiction tv show set, with the fancy control room and fancy looking futuristic looking domes. The pipes and containments chambers. The valves and backups. The flawed parts they now make them with, that doom them to failure.

They are 10 percent efficient . 90 percent of the the heat they generate goes into rivers or the ocean. They leak radionuclides like a sieve. They use uber toxic radionuclide's that are fissioned for heat to boil water. How fricken stupid can anyone be? It takes incredible amounts of fossile fuel to do everything for nuclear.

    1. Your preaching to the choir. "Technology ("science of craft", from Greek τέχνη, techne, "art, skill, cunning of hand"; and -λογία, -logia) is the collection of techniques, skills, methods and processes used in the production of goods or services or in the accomplishment of objectives, such as scientific investigation." It is okay to be innocent but not naive.
