"TOKYO --On June 2, Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TEPCO) compiled the findings of a study on radioactive water standing in the facilities of its Fukushima I nuclear power station, together with a plan for its storage and treatment. As of the end of May, the contaminated water in the turbine rooms and other facilities totaled 105,100 tons, and its concentration of radioactive substances was estimated at 720,000 terabecquerels. The amount of water could rapidly increase with rainfall, and steps such as the activation of water purification systems and installation of additional tanks are being taken for the safe storage and treatment of the contaminated water.

"The purification system is to start working on June 15..."

MAJIA HERE: NHK is reporting that Japan has no idea what to do with the radioactive waster resulting from the water purification process and plans on storing it. http://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/

Gunderson claims there is no way these filters could be handled because they will be so radioactive...

Japan is also considering expanding evacuations.

It is about time given the levels of contamination. (Mainichi Japan) June 9, 2011 Radioactive strontium detected 62 km from Fukushima plant http://www.japantoday.com/category/national/view/radioactive-strontium-detected-62-km-from-fukushima-plant
