Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Disaster Remembered

March 11 is the anniversary for the Fukushima Daiichi disaster of 3 nuclear meltdowns, at least one melt through, and a fire in at least one spent fuel pool. The disaster's costs keep rising:
Atsushi Komori (2019, March 10). Think tank puts cost to address nuke disaster up to 81 trillion yen. The Asahi Shimbun, http://www.asahi.com/ajw/articles/AJ201903100044.html   In a startling disparity, a private think tank puts the cost of addressing the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster between 35 trillion yen and 81 trillion yen ($315 billion and $728 billion), compared with the government estimate of 22 trillion yen.
Next year Japan plans on hosting the 2020 Olympics. Here is what Koide Hiroaki has to say about the scale of that disaster and the state of emergency that still persists in Japan:

According to the report submitted by the Japanese government to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), this accident released 1.5x101 6 becquerels (Bq) of cesium 137 into the atmosphere—the equivalent of 168 Hiroshima bombs. One Hiroshima bomb’s worth of radioactivity is already terrifying, but we have the Japanese government acknowledging that the Fukushima disaster released 168 times the radioactivity of that explosion into the atmosphere.a
