TEPCO Officials to be Indicted for Ignoring Tsunami Vulnerability at Fukushima Daiichi

Majia here: This is a very interesting development because in September 2013 a decision AGAINST indictment was made, which apparently was reversed in 2015:
3 ex-TEPCO execs to be indicted Mon. over Fukushima nuclear disaster. The Mainichi, February 26, 2016 (Mainichi Japan)

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Three former executives of Tokyo Electric Power Co. will be indicted Monday for allegedly failing to take measures to prevent the tsunami-triggered crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear complex, a lawyer in charge of the case said Friday.

The three, who will face charges of professional negligence resulting in death and injury, are Tsunehisa Katsumata, 75, chairman of TEPCO at the time, and two former vice presidents -- Sakae Muto, 65, and Ichiro Takekuro, 69....

The Mainichi reports that the Committee for the Inquest of Prosecution is charging the executives for ignoring a report received in June 2009 describing the plant's vulnerability to a tsunami measuring 15.7 meters. The Committee alleges the executives "failed to take pre-emptive measures knowing the risk of a major tsunami."

  1. I guess this will have some effect somewhere. Of course, GE is probably the chief villain and whoever shaved the bank down to save money and trouble when installing the plants. I wonder who made that ridiculous decision? The whole thing is a mess especially since Jim Stone may be right about the earthquake? Now the World Wildlife Fund is going to support Monsanto in turning the Amazon into a GMO environment. There are just too many idiotic corporations with voracious appetites ready to eat up the planet. It is hard not to despair over what is going on. Once upon a time the worst people could do very little of permanent damage. They could kill a lot people but they could not destroy the environment beyond the point of repairment. Now any fool can do that.

    1. Hi William. You write: "Now the World Wildlife Fund is going to support Monsanto in turning the Amazon into a GMO environment"

Unbelievable! Are they supporting GM mosquitoes?

  2. Guess the executives can use the Jim Stone defense and say the
tonoku earthquake and tsunami were unnatural and caused by a foreign power. The prosecutions arguement that they did not prepare for a natural tsunami could then be thrown out.
