Fukushima Ocean Contamination

Fukushima Radiation Spreads Across Pacific Ocean. By Jesse Emspak, LiveScience 03 April 12 http://readersupportednews.org/news-section2/312-16/10778-fukushima-radiation-spreads-across-pacific-ocean

[excerpted] "Radioactive material from the Fukushima nuclear disaster has been found in tiny sea creatures and ocean water some 186 miles (300 kilometers) off the coast of Japan, revealing the extent of the release and the direction pollutants might take in a future environmental disaster.

"In some places, the researchers from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) discovered cesium radiation hundreds to thousands of times higher than would be expected naturally, with ocean eddies and larger currents both guiding the "radioactive debris" and concentrating it..."

The ocean contamination is simply unprecedented.

Fukushima nuclear pollution in sea was world's worst: French institute. Japan Today Oct. 28, 2011 - http://www.japantoday.com/category/national/view/fukushima-nuclear-pollution-in-sea-was-worlds-worst-french-institute

Ken Buesseler, a scientist at Massachusetts’s Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, told the paper that Fukushima was by far the largest accidental release of radioactive material into ocean waters—exceeding, by a magnitude of 100, the Chernobyl contamination of the Black Sea.

Runoff of radioactive water from the "feed and bleed" operation at Fukushima has been continuous now for over 1 year.

I cannot imagine the consequences of this degree of contamination in ocean ecologies already collapsing from pollution and over-fishing.

We will surely pay the price for destroying the oceans, as contamination bio-accumulates in OUR bodies
