Thousands of tons of dead fish have washed up on a beach in northern Japan, prompting speculation that the release of treated radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear plant has wrought havoc on local ecosystems.The sardines and some mackerel washed ashore in Hakodate on Japan's northernmost main island of Hokkaido on Thursday morning, creating an unsettling sliver blanket that covered almost a mile of shoreline. Officials could not come up with an explanation for the phenomenon....

... In March 2011 the Fukushima power plant was wrecked after an earthquake and subsequent tsunami destroyed the plant's cooling systems, causing three reactors to melt.

Now, an undersea tunnel is being used to discharge the radioactive water treated by the Advanced Liquid Processing System, which uses a process called isotopic dilution to render the water less dangerous.

This process sees tritium - a less harmful radioactive isotope - added to the contaminated water which is subsequently mixed with 'clean seawater', diluting the concentration of more harmful substances. Japanese officials maintain that the treated water is safe.

TOKYO, Oct. 22, 2022 (Xinhua) -- The third batch of Fukushima nuclear-contaminated water to be released during Japan's next round of ocean discharge contains carbon-14, cobalt 60, strontium-90 and other radionuclides, according to pre-discharge test results released by the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO). Despite mounting concerns and opposition among local fishermen as well as from other countries, TEPCO said that preparations for the third round of ocean discharge will begin after the second round of discharge is completed and relevant maintenance and confirmation operations are carried out.

Skepticism over Japan’s plan to discharge water from the Fukushima nuclear plant must not give way to scaremongering.

Both videos demonstrate the homogenization of messages designed to produce fear and compliance.

The techniques of propaganda were refined over the twentieth century in the fields of industrial psychology (e.g., Human Relations), marketing and public relations (see Ivy Lee and Edward Bernays), and political-military operations aimed at engineering and/or deconstructing political legitimacy. 

The articulation and promotion of organic intellectuals and the deliberate promotion of known untruths, including "noble lies," are tactics deployed by a wide array of forces aimed at engineering consent.

Could you be 100% certain that other commenter was a real person? Chances are they were, but in some parts of the world, particularly where the U.S. military has a presence, they sometimes are not.

In Iraq and Afghanistan the military has started using software that allows it to create fake online identities to counter enemy efforts to recruit new members, using tactics like posting fake comments on blogs.

The practice was highlighted last night when the online hacking collective Anonymous released documents and e-mails highlighting the use of software to create multiple, fake online profiles, also known as “sock puppets” or “virtual armies” to sway public opinion. Anonymous, which has a small team of half a dozen supporters conducting their own investigation into the documents, claims the software has been used to track users on social networks like Facebook in foreign countries.

The U.S. Military has purchased software designed to create and control false online personas in an attempt to use social media and other websites to counter anti-U.S. messaging.

According to the contract between US Central Command (Centcom) and California company Ntrepid, the software would let each user control 10 personas, each "replete with background, history, supporting details, and cyber presences that are technically, culturally and geographically consistent." The software would also be able to let personas "appear to originate in nearly any part of the world" and interact through "conventional online services and social media platforms," while using a static IP address for each persona to maintain a consistent online identity.

These false online personas, also known as "sock puppets," would be equipped to seem like real people while entering online discussion through blogs, message boards, chats, and more. With a false persona, a user could discredit opponents, or create the semblance of consensus.

Jacques Ellul’s now-classic (1965) Propaganda: The Formation of Men’s Attitudes articulated the necessary "subjective" characteristics of effective propaganda, detailing how each individual must be targeted and cultivated in their individuality in order to produce changes in crowd activity.

The capacity to cultivate each individual in their individuality in order to control the crowd has never been greater.

Facebook allowed information of up to 50 million users to be handed over to Cambridge Analytica, a "political data firm" and Google acknowledged it had exposed private data of hundreds of thousands of users of its Google+ social network (here).

Apple's CEO Tim Cook remarked to The Wall Street Journal that the "scraps of information" acquired through social media are assembled meaningfully by a surveillance-industrial complex that threatens privacy while enabling unprecedented tailoring of persuasive messages:

Mr. Cook went further on Wednesday, likening the underlying data-collection practices of the targeted online-advertising world—a business worth tens of billions of dollars a year—to surveillance. It is language more common from privacy activists than tech CEOs.

“These scraps of data, each one harmless enough on its own, are carefully assembled, synthesized, traded, and sold,” Mr. Cook said. “This is surveillance. And these stockpiles of personal data serve only to enrich the companies that collect them. This should make us very uncomfortable.”

The future of humanity is the struggle between humans that control machines and machines that control humans. Between the democratization of communication and usurpation of communication by artificial intelligence.

SOLUTIONS: COMMUNICATION ETHICS

The first question asked when interrogating communication ethics addresses who communicates to who and by what means (this requires identifying the message source, the audience, and any intended persuasive effects).

How open are the channels of communication? Do particular well-positioned sources monopolize the production and dissemination of mass communication? Are dissidents censored? Is the array of opinions expressed fully?

What are the regularities in the patterns of access to the means of disseminating communication? Put otherwise, which individuals and groups are best positioned to advance their communications, framing events and elevating values with what aims? How are disagreements and uncertainties treated?

I believe that PLURALISM and TRANSPARENCY of message sourcing are critical for addressing these vital questions and I applaud social media’s stated commitment to increasing transparency of messaging. Indeed, the entire political process needs more transparency.

An important way to combat the worst forms of sophistry is transparency of sourcing because it allows audiences to evaluate source ethics, especially with respect to conflicting interests.

The next step in evaluating communication concerns semantics and pragmatics. How does a particular communication construct meaning? What problems does it identify or presuppose? What assumptions about the nature of reality and the distribution of power in society are built into the communications?  What values are structured into these assumptions and flow from from its solution-frames?

By addressing how truth is produced and governed in communication, analysts can disclose relations of power encoded into the “ensemble of rules according to which the true and the false are separated and specific effects of power attached to the true,” as articulated by Michel Foucault (1979 Power/Knowledge, p. 132).

Efforts to historicize truth need not lapse into cultural relativism whereupon all forms of rhetoric are evaluated as equal in their virtues when the production and governance of truth are interrogated in relation to power effects. As Foucault observed, “its not a matter of a battle ‘on behalf’ of the truth, but of a battle about the status of truth and the economic and political role that it plays” (p. 132).

How does the communication operate? What value and/or policy implications follow from its semantics? What are audiences called upon to do in response to the communication?

How do the fundamental semantic and pragmatic properties of a particular communication link up to others communications produced both by nodes in networked systems?

 

PLURALISM: Is dissent allowed? How are dissenting viewpoints treated? Are they marginalized or trivialized? Are uncertainties and disagreements in viewpoints (among experts and laypeople) acknowledged, or are they ignored or denied?

Pluralism, transparency and critical interrogation of the (historicized) truth value and ethics of communication are the solution, rather than censorship, to the crisis of communication in democracy.

Regulatory Capture and the Pharmaceutical Industry

 

I was leafing through a book and discovered an article from 2008 that I had cut out and saved in its pages. The article is salient to the problem of regulatory capture, which I've written about extensively - e.g., see here

In the article excerpted below, FDA employees were challenging their organization's stance that agency drug labels pre-empt state laws, thereby blocking consumer lawsuits against hazardous drugs:

Career officials at the Food and Drug Administration objected to the FDA blocking consumer lawsuits against drug makers in the past few years, according to agency documents released Wednesday in a congressional investigation.

...The FDA wants the high court to pre-empt lawsuits in state court over problems with federally regulated drugs.

Two officials said in the memos it is wrong to assume that FDA-approved drug labels are completely reliable, or that they are based on full disclosure of safety risks by drug makers.

'Much of the argument for why we are proposing to invoke pre-emption seems to be based on a false assumption that the FDA approving labeling is fully accurate and up-to-date in a real time base,' wrote John Jenkins, the top official in the drug approval section, in 2003. At that time, the FDA was debating a rule, later adopted, that enshrined the concept of pre-empting state suits....  

The current debacle with the mRNA vaccine hazards illustrates regulatory capture by corporate interests at an unprecedented scale, as I discuss here. For example, a recent article provides evidence that the FDA accelerated mRNA vaccine approval in order to enable vaccine mandates.

The machine that is the FDA/CDC complex tolerates no dissent under conditions of regulatory capture.

Furthermore, as illustrated by the unethical mandates, we have entered a new era where regulatory capture not only greases approval of products with undetermined safety issues, but also requires populations to be subjected to them, regardless of their need or willingness.

People are waking up to this travesty of justice but institutional change demands (peaceful) institutional accountability starting with full transparency.

 

Studies Find Natural Immunity to COVID-19 Far Superior to Vaccine Induced Immunity

 

Dr. John Campbell reviews this study, which like the Cleveland Clinic Study [doi: https://doi.org/10.1101/2021.06.01.2125817], finds natural immunity to be far superior in efficacy and durability to vaccine induced immunity:

The findings of this study that natural immunity is 27 times superior to vaccine induced immunity raises important questions regarding the rationale for US CDC recommendations that everyone be re-vaccinated.

I've been studying the various narratives that circulate across print and social media regarding the rationale for pushing the vaccines. These narratives include:

ECONOMIC/COMMERCIAL NARRATIVE:  Narrative holds that US and other nations' regulatory agencies are captured by commercial interests and policy is therefore driven by greed rather than public health. Biden's bid to create a new economic boom in the bio-economy is linked to this narrative.

GEOPOLITICAL NARRATIVE: Narrative holds that geopolitical conflict between China and the US are manifesting in viral bio-warfare and the vaccines are military counter-measures deployed in lock-step formulation without consideration of new evidence of risk-benefit ratios.

POPULIST NARRATIVE: Narrative holds that the Club of Rome dystopic type scenarios of global over-population are driving elite efforts to de-populate the earth, especially developed nations, using vaccines that have hidden impacts on fertility as imagined in the British version of the Utopia series.

 

There may be other foundational narratives but these are the most dominant ones I've encountered. Each offers an explanation for the irrational unwillingness to confront vaccine induced injuries and to incorporate efficacy data other than produced by the vaccine manufacturers themselves.

Hazards of mRNA Vaccine Platform Reviewed

The consequences for our compliance with this extortion haunt us today.

Moreover, we know many, many people who suffered auto-immune disease conditions after taking mRNA vaccines. We also know of two people who died from their "vaxxes." I've reviewed the failed cost-benefit analysis previously at this blog.

I have spent the last 3 years trying to understand what happened. I've learned that there are at least 4 known problems with the mRNA platform:

• The spike protein payload
• The lipid "nanoparticle" delivery system
• The synthetic mRNA - N1-methylpseudouridine used in mRNA
•  Contaminants/Adulterants 
  

Spike protein is dangerous in and of itself. Lipid nanoparticle encased instructions for your body engineering spike can persist for an unknown length of time and get distributed across your body and bioaccumulate in organs!  Worse - the lipid nanoparticles are themselves highly toxic!

RELATED RESEARCH

Parhiz, H. et al., (2022). Added to pre-existing inflammation, mRNA-lipid nanoparticles induce inflammation exacerbation (IE). Journal of Controlled Release, 344, 50-61.

Current nucleoside-modified RNA lipid nanoparticle (modmRNA-LNP) technology has successfully paved the way for the highest clinical efficacy data from next-generation vaccinations against SARS-CoV-2 during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

However, such modmRNA-LNP technology has not been characterized in common pre­ existing inflammatory or immune-challenged conditions, raising the risk of adverse clinical effects when administering modmRNA-LNPs in such cases. 

Herein, we induce an acute-inflammation model in mice with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) intratracheally (IT), 1 mg kg-1, orintravenously (IV), 2 mg kg-1, and then IV administer modmRNA-LNP, 0.32 mg kg-1, after 4 h, and screen for inflammatory markers, such as pro­ inflammatory cytokines. ModmRNA-LNP at this dose caused no significant elevation of cytokine levels in naive mice. 

In contrast, shortly after LPS immune stimulation, modmRNA-LNP enhanced inflammatory cytokine responses, Interleukin-6 (IL-6) in serum and Macrophage Inflammatory Protein 2 (MIP-2) in liver significantly. 

Our report identifies this phenomenon as inflammation exacerbation (IE), which was proven to be specific to the LNP, acting independent of mRNA cargo, and was demonstrated to be time- and dose-dependent. Macrophage depletion as well as TLR3 -/- and TLR4-/- knockout mouse studies revealed macrophages were themmune cells involved or responsible for IE. Finally, we show that pretreatment with anti-inflammatory drugs, such as corticosteroids, can partially alleviate IE response in mice. Our findings characterize the importance of LNP­ mediated IE phenomena in gram negative bacterial inflammation, however, the generalizability of modmRNA­ LNP in other forms of chronic or acuteinflammatory and immune contexts needs to be addressed.

SYNTHETIC mRNA 

According to a 2020 study (doi.org/10.1105/tpc.19.00639) the biological relevance of pseudouridine in mRNA remains unclear so downstream effects are not yet mapped:

This same study observes a risk of toxicity from pseurdouridine: Compromising pseudouridine catabolism leads to strong pseudouridine accumulation and increased ΨMP content. ΨMP is toxic, causing delayed germination and growth inhibition. More Research Needed to Assure Safety, Especially with Cumulative Exposures. 

SPIKE PROTEIN PAYLOAD ISSUES
