When I began this blog I would never have envisioned posting headlines like the ones immediately above.
The reader might challenge these headlines and question the stories' facticity.
However, I will respond by arguing that we have entered a time where unprecedented events are unfolding and the old lines that formerly demarcated fiction no longer stand true.
There have been for me 4 major events that ruptured my world view, the matrix that used to define my realities.
The first event was the deliberate effort by the US Government to lie to the people of the world about Iraq's role in 9-11. It was such a blatantly transparent lie with such large consequences.
The second event was the cover-up and outright fabrications issued by the US Government in the wake of the BP oil spill. The blatant lies that were spun concerning the scope and health effects of the oil and corexit defied logic and yet, still, the media reported BP and U.S. Government fabrications as if they were truths.
The third event was the Fukushima cover-up that continues still. Fukushima spews deadly radiation daily and yet the purportedly democratic governments of Japan, Canada, and the US have taken few steps to protect their citizens.
The lack of response in the wake of the greatest human-created disaster ever defies belief.
How can this be happening, I ask?
The final event that shed the last vestiges of the matrix was the passage of the US defense authorization bill that authorizes the executive (i.e., President) to detain without trial US citizens suspected of "terrorist" affiliations.
A new world has been revealed as the last vestiges of the matrix have been shed. This new world is neither democratic nor pastoral.
This new world is based on a politics of death and disregard, rather than a politics of life.
The headlines above may read like science fiction, but the world we now inhabit has more in common with our dystopic projections than it does with the matrix-affected democratic fantasy some still think we inhabit.
