Pluralism and Democracy Imperilled: WEF Coding Pluralism and Dissent as Dis/Mis-information

Apparently our WEF delegate, John Kerry told his peers that US consumer reluctance to fully embrace EVs has nothing to do with their current technological shortcomings and has everything to do with "disinformation" (see here).

The World Economic Forum's Global Risk Report lists "misinformation" and "disinformation" as the leading global threats. This prioritization essentially tells you everything you need to know about that organization and its proponents.

Above all else, they fear opinions, values, and facts that diverge from their narrative. Messy uncertainties and disagreements about interpretations, values and policies must all give way to our elite's elevated Truth, operationalized in their policies and programs.

George Orwell could not have been more prescient in his account of newspeak greasing authoritarianism.

I argue that any group that plans to use discipline (e.g., algorithmic censorship) and force (financial extortion and platform cancellation) to promote their "truth" and cancel alternative sense-making is fundamentally anti-democratic and anti-humanist.

Our elites have slipped into a post-humanist technocratic fantasy that elevates their expertise in remaking humanity according to their dystopian aspirations. Freedom of speech is the greatest obstacle to their tyranny.

Tragically for us peons, the elite ideology of newspeak has circulated so extensively in foundational institutions, fueled by extrinsic (e.g., funding) and intrinsic rewards (e.g., ego), that resistance will not be forthcoming from these quarters.

The contradiction between lived experience, with EVs and experimental injections, and official rhetoric in the "lifeworld" (as described by Jurgen Habermas) will ground resistance. Organic intellectuals will emerge from this space, but the disciplinary panopticism being unveiled by our self-important elites will be difficult to combat.

Violent resistance will unleash their most repressive forces so that option should not be prioritized. Non-violent resistance promoted by figures such as MLK and M. Gandhi.
