Canadian "Leadership" and the State of the Exception

Cowards and totalitarians invoke emergency powers when they feel they have lost control.

Canada's decision to invoke a "state of emergency" is most certainly going to backfire spectacularly and has already been condemned by Canada's Civil Liberties organization, as reported here:

Under the Emergencies Act, the government introduced measures intended to cut off protesters’ funding and took steps to reinforce provincial and local law enforcement with federal police. “The blockades are harming our economy and endangering public safety,” Trudeau told a news conference on Monday. “We cannot and will not allow illegal and dangerous activities to continue.”

But the Canadian Civil Liberties Association said the government had not met the standard for invoking the Emergencies Act, which is intended to deal with threats to “sovereignty, security and territorial integrity,” the group said

A week or so ago I called for dialogue, transparency, and communicative collaboration. Instead we are seeing the unveiling of naked power. This is not the path to collective healing.

However, truckers don't have to demonstrate to bring Canada's government, or that of any other nation, to its knees. A general strike would be sufficient to make the point that the public has had enough of totalitarian and pointless mandates designed to polarize the population and stigmatize all those who object to enforced "vaccination" with gene-based therapies whose adverse events are being ignored and censored.
