Challenging SARS-CoV-2 Origins

The New York Times interviews Dr. Daniel R. Lucey, an "infectious disease specialist at Georgetown University," and offers guidance to the World Health Organization investigators heading to Wuhan China.

Dr. Lucey has 8 questions for the WHO regarding the origins of SARS-Co-V-2:

Broad, W. J. (2020, July 8). 8 Questions From a Disease Detective on the Pandemic’s Origins. The New York Times https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/08/health/coronavirus-origin-china-lucey.html

... he urges the W.H.O. investigators to look for any signs of “gain of function” research — the deliberate enhancement of pathogens to make them more dangerous. The technique is highly contentious. Critics question its merits and warn that it could lead to catastrophic lab leaks. Proponents see it as a legitimate way to learn how viruses and other infectious organisms might evolve to infect and kill people, and thus help in devising new protections and precautions.

Debate over its wisdom erupted in 2011 after researchers announced success in making the highly lethal H5N1 strain of avian flu easily transmissible through the air between ferrets, at least in the laboratory.

In his blog, Dr. Lucey asks “what, if any,” gain-of-function studies were done on coronaviruses in Wuhan, elsewhere in China, or in collaboration with foreign laboratories.....

  1. “ The study, which focused on 37 asymptomatic and 37 symptomatic patients, showed that more than 90% of both groups showed steep declines in levels of SARS-COV-2–specific immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies within 2 to 3 months after onset of infection, according to a report published yesterday in Nature Medicine. Further, 40% of the asymptomatic group tested negative for IgG antibodies 8 weeks after they were released from isolation.”

    1. SARS like most corona virus, rarely makes "a come back". I think 10% is all that is needed for herd immunity. Our collective unconscious (CG Jung)has evolved to program the Tcells of the rest of the species.

      stock sayeth first.

    2. Another study showing “ The study found that 60 percent of the patients had a “potent” antibody response at peak of their battle with the coronavirus. After about two months, however, just 16.7 percent of the patients had a potent antibody response.”

Also “ Not only do antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 fade, and perhaps fade quickly, studies have also shown that only 15% of those who test positive for antibodies make the neutralizing antibodies necessary to develop immunity in the first place. And not all of those who make neutralizing antibodies make them at high levels. Some of those infected make no antibodies at all.”

    1. Nuclear reactors are at risk from covid. Japan has a thousand cases. Everyone there, uses masks and self secludes. The asian's have been using masks, to prevent contagion for decades. The Japanese and Koreans are actively using iv antiviral drugs and steroids for treatment. The Koreans and Chinese have cheap and or free home tests for covid 19. This turkey is more interested in letting people die, creating divisiveness, creating chaos, destroying the economy and lying, than saving lives. Mad, evil man. A terrible destructive Man. Leadership vacuum. Very negative criminal leadership activity. An amoral criminal psychopath for president. Would you want your kids to be like this guy?
