Elevated Radiation Levels in US from Japan?

Radiation levels were quite high in Japan last couple of weeks:

Radiation levels in the US have been slowly trending upwards, as indicated by Netc, whose data sources include EPA Radnet and private monitors.

Netc is rough and incomplete data, but it provides insight into trends. I've noted for several years in my blog that elevated RadNet readings in cities under jet stream often follow elevated radiation readings in Japan by several days.

Today the jet stream moved south bound through Canada and the US along the North Pacific Coast before moving south-east toward Texas. Texas seems to be a point of intersection, under influence from the jet stream and northern winds from Mexico or beyond

These are crude data points but I've seen the pattern replicated many times. Elevated radiation levels in Japan then correlate with elevated radiation levels in monitors under the jet stream, although there are exceptions that often correlate with local sources of contamination, including WIPP.

So radiation contamination is both global and local and there are many sources within the US, including the heavy radioactive emissions that occur when nuclear power plants re-fuel.

Nuclear is truly a politics of death: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rfaksokeqjbwkx9/Thanatopolitics%202015%20Presentation.pdf?dl=0
