What we have here, is a failure to communicate. The technical definition of recession hasn't impressed upon the American public. They're too willing to accept the self-interested noise offered them by the for-profit media. Understanding is hard and the for-profit media know it. Instead of understanding, the offer entertainment. They offer sensation and feeling.
ReplyDeleteJoe is correct that (enough) of the public will not be impressed until the deterioration of their communities becomes so significant and/or so personal that it cannot be denied. Then, perhaps, the reaction may come. We can only hope it is not too late and we can hope it is not too fully orchestrated by the puppeteers...
