Google's Updated Search Algorithm, Algorithmic Censorship, and the Future of Majia's Blog

Once again Google updated its search algorithm and my blog posts are barred from showing up as search result unless you specifically search "Majia's Blog."

I read about the new search algorithm censoring Mercola Health, which was particularly hit hard by the new update (https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2019/06/24/google-latest-algorithm-update-buries-mercola.aspx).

I have also noticed a drop in my page views very recently, regardless of the frequency of my posting, which has always been the most predictive factor for audience.

I've been weighing discontinuing the blog, especially now that its almost dark web.

The reasons I see for discontinuing the blog are time, effort, and algorithmic censorship (please see resources below).

The reasons for continuing the blog are the vast archive of posts and reader commentary that will be lost if I don't keep the blog active regardless of audience size.

I'm interested in your feedback. Thank you.

  2. Things will change, so don't let this temporary censorship stop you. In the meantime you might do fewer posts, and then when the changes come you can power up again. Of course the bad guys want you to fold. Disappoint them.

And where else will you find such smart and lovely commenters?

  3. Please continue. I am a regular reader, and I find a strange comfort in your writings, that a well-educated scholar like you analyses and discusses topics regarded as "conspiracy theory" by most. Don't let Google be your measure of success, there are other means of spreading the word. If you still want to quit, please leave the blog online as it is, there is a lot to read and it might inspire someone else to write about this.

  4. Dear Majia, I, for one, do hope you'll keep up your good job.
Truth always survives, no matter what. History has shown that again and again. The assaults against truth hurt but can never win.

  5. I concur with your observations. Unless you specify "Majia's blog", it is hard to find out your blog.

    But... do not give up.
