Fukushimas Everywhere

Yesterday TEPCO was once again dropping an unknown device into reactor building 1.

I have speculated for some time that TEPCO is injecting nitrogen with a device I've seen lowered many times, but several commentators at this blog suggested that the device may be spraying some material to keep radioactive dust down.

Here is a link to some close-up screenshots of the mysterious device I took last month: http://majiasblog.blogspot.com/2017/01/fukushima-daiichi-nitrogen-device.html

Here is a screenshot from yesterday:

Unit 3 area emissions continue to look bad (between 6 and 7 on a 10 point scale derived from 5 plus years watching the plant)

I read an article in the Wall Street Journal this morning titled, "Nuclear Supplier Hit Over Safety" describing a
"decades long coverup of manufacturing problems at a French factory owned by the supplier" [Areva] including evidence that records at a factory called Le Creusot Forge, had been "haphazardly altered" (M. Dalton, 2/7/2014, B3)

We could have Fukushimas everywhere, it is just a matter of time....

Imagine a situation with failing nuclear power plants around the globe with no possibility for containing radioactive emissions into aquifers, oceans, streams, rivers, atmosphere, etc....

  1. Yes it seems that they are sprinkling something on the ruins during the cleaning of the technical surface. This is to avoid dispersal of radioactive dust into the atmosphere during construction.
