Sanctions for Election Hacking? More Escalation of the New Cold War

The Obama Admin is sanctioning Russia for alleged interference in the 2016 election cycle:
Obama administration announces measures to punish Russia for 2016 election interference. The Washington Post, https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/obama-administration-announces-measures-to-punish-russia-for-2016-election-interference/2016/12/29/311db9d6-cdde-11e6-a87f-b917067331bb_story.html?utm_term=.0e858081468a&wpisrc=nl_headlines&wpmm=1
Proof of the means and effects of the alleged election hacking have not been disclosed.

I've blogged previously about the absolute strangeness of the allegations and the equivocations produced across US national intelligence agencies. For example, see What is Real and Who Decides?

Film Director Oliver Stone's observations and commentary about the alleged role of Russian hacking of the election are well worth reading at his Facebook account. (hat tip: ZeroHedge).

Stone points out that "When one group-think controls our national conversation, it becomes truly dangerous...."

Stone recommends several articles as an antidote to the rising jingoism that is turning the pages of the New York Times and Washington Post scarlet (I read these papers daily and agree strongly with Stone's assessment):

I don't understand what is driving the Democratic Party to escalate tensions with Russia, particularly given recent, hostile US and NATO policies, as noted by Mikhail Gorbachev, who with US President Ronald Reagan ended the first Cold War:
Will Worley and Matt Payton. July 9, 2016. Mikhail Gorbachev says Nato is escalating Cold War with Russia 'into a hot one'. The Independent. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/nato-chief-russia-soviet-mikhail-gorbachev-ukraine-eastern-europe-tensions-jens-stoltenberg-unified-a7128521.html

Former Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev has accused Nato of preparing for "offensive operations" against Russia. As the Western alliance held a summit in Warsaw, Poland, Mr Gorbachev criticised Nato’s decision to deploy 4,000 more international troops in Eastern Europe. Tensions have been mounting between Russia and Nato member states, in particular the US, as diplomatic spats and military excercises have increased in frequency.

Mr Gorbachev, the eighth and last leader of the Soviet Union, said: “Nato has begun preparations for escalating from the Cold War into a hot one. “All the rhetoric in Warsaw just yells of a desire almost to declare war on Russia. They only talk about defence, but actually they are preparing for offensive operations.”

What is the point of this new cold war?

Energy expert Michael Klare suggests its a function of the race to secure what is left of the world's resources:

No one wins this war and human resources are the most quickly dispensed with, because population is no longer considered a source of wealth, as it was under early capitalism.

In the new era, human resources are transformed into liabilities, as I have documented in my published book monographs and research articles. For example, see my journal article here: http://www.mediatropes.com/index.php/Mediatropes/article/view/15747/12840

Unfortunately, the population is too fractured and at war with itself to confront the ecological collapse that threatens our species. And the population is too easily led on matters beyond the pragmatic realities of everyday lives.

Of course, who can tell what is true in this new fun house of mirrors we have forged for perhaps the last time.

  1. Oddly Shaped Immune Cells Cause Fibrosis

    by Osaka University

MRI analysis: A lack of SatM resulted in resistance to fibrosis. Source: Osaka University
Scientists at the Immunology Frontier Research Center (IFReC) at Osaka University, Japan, report a new group of monocytes they call SatM. Studies in mice show that SatM may be responsible for causing fibrosis and creates a new drug target for an ailment that has little effective therapies.

Fibrosis is a form of scarring that could if uncontrolled cause deleterious thickening of tissues. Although it is known that fibrosis is caused by an activated immune system, which specific cells are responsible continuous to elude researchers.

Scientists at IFReC may have found this subgroup, as they report in Nature a class of monocyte cells with strange morphology. "The cells had a bi-lobed segmented nuclear shape and many cytoplasmic granules. We therefore called them 'Segregated nucleus atypical monocytes (SatM)'", said IFReC Professor Shizuo Akira.

To identify this subgroup, the researchers looked at immune cell subpopulations that predominantly appeared in fibrosis. "These cells were regulated by C/EBPβ," observed Akira.

Detailed examination of immune cells showed that the C/EBPβ mutant mice, unlike normal mice, produced no SatM, whereas no other observed immune cell population was changed. The mice were also significantly more resistant to fibrosis. On the other hand, when the mutant mice were exposed to SatM, their susceptibility to fibrosis rose.

Although Dr. Akira, Dr. Satoh and his colleagues describe SatM as a subset of monocytes, SatM showed characteristics that suggested they were hybrids of different immune cells. According to Akira, gene analysis found SatM "showed granulocyte markers, but SatM are definitely not granulocytes. These cell type is one of monocyte."

Additional study found the progenitor cells responsible for producing SatM. Adoptive transfer of these progenitors into mutant mice unable to produce SatM resulted in a SatM population, and C/EBPβ was found to be essential for maintaining the progenitors.

  2. Fake news because all Trump has to do is lift sanctions when he takes office. Has a republican controlled congress.

    2. John Bolton said Obama is going too easy on the Russians for hacking american election.
      http://ussanews.com/News1/2016/12/30/john-bolton-splits-with-trump-on-retaliation-for-russian-hacking/

This week bolton flipflopped and sys Russian hacking is a false flag put out by obama. That is, according to a lot of msm. It also depends on the website.

I do not think there is Russian hacking of american elections. I think it is part of the politics of mass distraction from politicians and the media, that has been going on a long time. It is the media and political mass distraction of people who watch TV, read newspapers, and cruise internet.

Meanwhile the world is in major trouble from nuclear weapons, Fukushima, nuclear waste that is not really stable, and many flawed nuclear reactors.

  4. It is highly unlikely that the US could produce evidence of Russian hacking because a professional would disguise the source beyond anyone's ability to trace it. Personally I think Obama is simply continuing his destructive ways as long as possible and creating tensions with Russia is available now. I think Trump's election has put him in a state of terror. He will be vulnerable to prosecution soon and pardoning himself would be a big embarrassment! A war with Russia would be fatal for the planet. Everyone knows it even John McCain.

  5. So it was the cook that did it! "Not only has the White House banned Russian diplomats from a Maryland “spy compound” which is actually a vacation retreat, the Obama administration has expelled a chef from the Russian Embassy in San Francisco, forcing diplomats and their families to cook for themselves."
