A team of Japanese and other researchers at the United States' National Institutes of Health announced it has successfully used the application of light to cure cancer in mice, in the Aug. 17 edition of the U.S. medical journal Science Translational Medicine.
The researchers say that curing the cancer of one part of the body led to the curing of it in other parts of the body to which the cancer had spread. Hisataka Kobayashi, a researcher at the institutes, says, "We have expectations that this will become an effective treatment method even when a cancer has spread."
