Yes I am pretty fed up.
The propagandists are actively working to make Californians believe that their coast line has not yet been contaminated by Fukushima radiation.
People living in other west coast states are also targeted but I see California as being the key focus of the propaganda campaign.
The aim of the campaign is to confuse the public into thinking that the only threat from Fukushima is the ocean plume, which according to the propaganda campaign will have little influence on ocean life.
The reason the campaign is propaganda is that the radionuclides are already here. They came down in the rain.
Published research documented high amounts of radioiodine from Fukushima in Southern California kelp in 2011:
S. Manley and C. Lowe (6 March 2012) ‘Canopy-Forming Kelps as California’s Coastal Dosimeter: 131I from Damaged Japanese Reactor Measured in Macrocystis Pyrifera’, Environmental Science & Technology,http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/es203598r?journalCode=esthag.
‘Study Finds Radioactive Fallout in California Kelp Beds’ (5 April 2012), Everything Long Beach, http://www.everythinglongbeach.com/study-finds-radioactive-fallout-in-california-kelp-beds/, date accessed 6 April 2012.
The US Geological Survey also found radioncuclides across the west coast from 'wet deposition' (a.k.a. rain).
G. Wetherbee, T. Debey, M. Nilles, C. Lehmann, and D. Gay. (2012) ‘Fission Products in National Atmospheric Deposition Program-West Deposition Samples Prior to and Following the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant Incident, March 8-April 5, 2011’, U. S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 2011, 1277.The campaign of 'no imminent risk' is propaganda because we are already contaminated. The campaign of 'no risk' is also propaganda because it doesn't address the fact that the incoming plume will NEVER cease in our lifetime. There is an unceasing plume of radionuclides produced by melted nuclear fuel at Fukushima Daiichi in continuous contact with fresh water emptying into the ocean. The plume emanating from the plant will from now onward contain high levels of Strontium-90 and other nasties, such as the 15 isotopes of plutonium.
Please see this post for data and analysis Will Fukushima Kill Vast Swathes of Ocean Life?
I'm fed up with the propaganda.
I told my father's neurologist today that I believed his unusual and precipitous decline was brought on by the cumulative effects of fallout on him as a biologically vulnerable individuals. He is going to enter hospice care Friday.
Everyone around me has someone who is quite ill. Faculty have reported that its been a bad semester for students because of so many ill family members.
An increase in radionuclides in our food, air, and water poses additional immunological, neurological, and cancer risks to human health, among other diseases caused by ionizing radiation.
Radioactive decay and the chemical toxicity of many radioactive elements accelerate aging! Alpha particle decay is among the worst for accelerating aging. Much of that MOX fuel from Fukushima is no doubt dispersed around the northern hemisphere. There is not much left of unit 3.
Sure concentrations are low but it only takes one ingested/inhaled hot particle to kill you across time.
If you have doubts about contamination in North America, read this: In June of 2012, researchers from the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and the University of Texas published for public review a power point presentation titled ‘US Particulate and Xenon Measurements Made Following the Fukushima Reactor Accident’ by.[i]
The researchers had used a SAUNA-II xenon measurement system in March and April of 2011 to measure noble gasses from Fukushima reaching the U.S. Pacific Northwest. The system measured Xenon-133 at 450,000 times background. The levels persisted for weeks. Xenon-133 emits beta particles (high intensity electrons) and gamma rays as it decays. Inhalation of Xenon poses a danger to human health.
The U.S. EPA Radnet system tasked with air monitoring failed. The EPA Office of the Inspector General issued a report in 2012 that noted twenty percent of the EPA’s stationary radiation monitors were not functioning at the time of the Fukushima accident.[ii] Additionally, other monitors had not had their filters changed and were therefore not able to provide accurate readings. The Inspector General report concluded that the EPA Radnet system had ‘relaxed quality controls.’
The declassified NRC transcripts of conference calls that occurred on 17 March 2011 reveal that the agency had projections of a 40 millisievert dose to the thyroid from radioactive iodine alone for a one-year old child in California: ‘The DITTRA result was four rem [40,000 microsieverts or 40 millisieverts] to the thyroid of a one year-old child based on one year integration of uptake.’[iii] Parents in North America were not warned about the dangers of radioactive iodine in dairy products.
No one in the public eye wants to talk about bio-accumulation and bio-magnification for a reason.
But, deception prevents mitigation! What is wrong with these people? Do they want to commit species suicide because we are heading down that slope very quickly now....
I'm fed up. Fukushima Daiichi unit 4 has been bleeding red into the sky for the last two weeks. I presume that cesium and other radionuclides are being vaporized with the hot fuel.
The wind has been blowing terribly here in Phoenix for the last month. All the fallout from 2011 is blowing in the wind with the new cesium cloud coming a visiting on the jet stream express.
