Japanese Officials Speak Out


Below find 2 article titles and excerpted text that suggest the facade of normality and the charade of deception are cracking. The cover-up of scientific evidence and the desire to minimize costs even when human health are at risk are reminiscent of the US handling of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill last year. WSJ: "Ex-Advisor Says Tokyo Understated Radiation Threats" July 2-3 p. A7

"A former nuclear adviser to Japanese Prime Minister Kan blasted the government's handling of the crisis, and predicted more revelations of radiation threats to the public in coming months"

"Toshiso Kosako, one  of the country's leading experts on radiation safety, said Mr Kan's government has been slow to test for dangers in the sea and fish, and has understated certain radiation threats to minimize clean-up costs...

"While there have been scattered reports of food contamination--including tea leaves and spinach--Mr Kosako predicted there will be broader discoveries later this year, especially with a new crop of rice, Japan's staple. 'Come the harvest season in the fall, there will be chaos' [direct quote of Mr. Kosako]...

"Specifically, Mr. Kosako said the government set a relatively high ceiling for acceptable radiation in school yards, so that only 17 schools exceeded that limit. If the government had set the lower ceiling he had advocated, thousands of schools would have required full cleanup..."
