Psyops, Fukushima, and Radiation

Psychological warfare has been pursued actively by governments and corporations since World War I. Read Edward Bernay’s Propaganda and view the film Psywar to see how it is accomplished http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZyniTWm1hE

Psychological warfare aims to mobilize and direct “group” opinion. Mis-information and dis-information are key components.

A key issue targeted for mis-information is radiation safety. Here is an example of deliberate dis-information posted as “objective” authoritative facts:

Japan's already reeling economy could be crushed by over-reaction to the Fukushima disaster, warns radiation scientist T.D. Luckey in the summer 2011 issue of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons. Japan should not repeat the mistake that Russia made in the tremendous unwarranted expense of its reaction to Chernobyl… Japan should not act on the false presumption, shared by most of the world's press, that all radiation is harmful, Luckey states. Although high-dose radiation is clearly lethal, and excess doses (>200 mSv over an extremely short time, as from the atomic bomb blasts) can induce cancer, thousands of scientific papers show actual benefits from low doses, including the prevention of cancer and birth defects…”

Majia Here: I have posted quite a bit of research on this subject demonstrating conclusively that there is no safe level of radiation and that internal exposure through inhalation or ingestion is much, much more dangerous even than external exposure to radiation (e.g., plane ride or X-Ray).

Even the International Atomic Energy Agency has admitted that there is no safe level of radiation http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/2011/06/02/theres-no-safe-radiation-level/

Even our exposure to sunlight can cause cancer—I should know given I go to the dermatologist every 6 months to have damaged skin cut out.

I researched using technical databases whether there was any scientific basis for the hormetic effect, which postulates that low levels of ionizing radiation stimulate DNA repair. Very few reputable scientists (not paid by industry) follow this line of research because of variability in individual responses based on health, age, etc and because the preponderance of research shows that there is not a “safe” level of radiation for the population at large.

Ok so why is T.D. Luckey saying it is safe, irrespective of radiation kind or individual differences? This guy has built his entire scientific record on arguing that radiation is “harmonious” with human health http://www.radscihealth.org/rsh/docs/byAuthor/Luckey.htm

I think the answer is rather obvious.

Efforts to shape public opinion can also be found in the form of troll comments on prominent internet blogs such as e-news. Research on public opinion has known for almost 100 years that opinion leaders are very important in shaping most people’s attitudes and beliefs. So, trolls attempt shape opinion. How do they do that?

First, they enhance their credibility by assuming credentials (e.g., they claim to be a scientist or retired nuclear plant engineer). Second, they use “reasonableness” as a rhetorical strategy aimed at making their opposition appear emotional and irrational. Third, they aggressively attempt to cast doubt on other opinion leaders’ comments. See Washington’s Blog for other strategies http://georgewashington2.blogspot.com/2011/05/twenty-five-rules-of-disinformation.html

I am seeing quite a few comments at e-news that appear in tone and content to have been produced by trolls, a.k.a., psyops operatives.

These comments are recognizable by their unrelenting and deliberate, but often veiled, attacks against other opinion leaders on the forums. They are often marked by their efforts to simplify arguments using straw-man techniques. By simplifying an argument, trolls then attempt to de-construct the arguments conclusions or premises. However, their simplification efforts are deliberately distorting. (See Yves Smith's comments about trolls at her blog http://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2011/05/on-trolls-and-plants.html)

We are going to see more and more dis-information and deliberate psyops. The radiation levels in southern California and Arizona are, according to the EPA’s radnet, high right now as compared to normal levels. Beta for Riverside is 91. LA, Bakersfield, Fresno, and Anaheim are “under review,” which has be come code for “too high to report.”

Phoenix has been around 60-70 for days, which is about 3 times our normal background radiation levels (based on my records for since mid-March).

So, there is going to be a concerted effort by nuclear industry agents and government to shape public opinion so as to avoid concerns about food safety in the wake of one of the worst environmental disaster in human history See. The Explosion of Nukespeak by Karl Grossman http://www.commondreams.org/view/2011/04/11-2

Don’t be fooled! Try and read a variety of source materials and be suspicious of the underlying intent of sources. Look for conflicts of interest. Be aware of dis-information strategies. Weigh evidence carefully. Be open to new information but always evaluate the data….
