Fukushima Updates June 5

The situation at Fukushima remains critical. Please read my last status update at http://majiasblog.blogspot.com/2011/06/what-is-happening-with-fukushima.html

The news out today focuses on the degree of contamination and the situation at reactor 1, which is devoid of pressure. I’m not sure whether new confirmation that there is no pressure in reactor vessel #1 is really “news” since we’ve known for some time that the core in that reactor had melted and was on the concrete floor of the building.

Gunderson believes that the reactor core will remain on the concrete floor, burning only very slowly through the floor. Others do not agree and fear that the concrete will be easily eaten away by the very hot fuel, ultimately producing another explosion. We can only wait and see on this one.

Meanwhile we all hold our breath hoping the bottom of the pressure vessel for #3 doesn’t break through and that building #4 housing the very, very full spent fuel pool does not topple. Gunderson warns people who would be in the path of the fallout from these events to watch carefully!

At this point, I have a hard time believing in the veracity of any reports issued by our government, by the Japanese government, and by TEPCO. There is growing evidence that these corrupt and despicable entities lied through their teeth in March and April.

Revelation that people in Seattle were exposed in April to approximately 10 hot particles a day is shocking. The EPA had the mission and ethical responsibility to warn the public to take precautions. Those miserable lying SOB chose to lie about the threat. I really don’t know what else to say. I am so sickened, so angry, so outraged by their deception, coming right on the heels of their lying and deception about the Gulf oil spill....

Well, I’ve ranted enough. Here is a summary of headlines:

#Fukushima Nuke Accident: WSPEEDI Shows Tokyo Was Under Radioactive Plume on March 15

"Japan's ever-sneaky Ministry of Education and Science again quietly released 3 sets of simulation maps of WSPEEDI without any press release nor any explanation; this time it was the simulations that they did on March 15. The Reactor 3 that used MOX fuel blew up on March 14 at 11:01AM JST…."

MAJIA HERE: WATCH OUT FOR THE BS IN THE FOLLOWING STORY. Prof. Yamatomo is accredited with stating that there is no harm from the plutonium found outside the Fukushima plant because of its small amount. That statement is utter BS. The smallest amount of plutonium is capable of killing anyone who consumes or inhales it. During the era of nuclear testing plutonium was deposited in many areas of the world and continues to kill people to this day. There is so much research and so many books on this subject….

“Plutonium found outside Fukushima plant”

http://www3.nhk.or.jp/daily/english/05_21.html

“Minute amounts of plutonium have been detected for the first time in soil outside the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.

Shinzo Kimura of Hokkaido University collected the roadside samples in Okumamachi, some 1.7 kilometers west of the front gate of the power station...

Professor Masayoshi Yamamoto and researchers at a Kanazawa University laboratory analyzed the samples and found minute amounts of 3 kinds of plutonium.

The samples of plutonium-239 and 240 make up a total of 0.078 becquerels per kilogram.

This is close to the amount produced by past atomic bomb tests....

Professor Yamamoto said the quantities are so minute that people's health will not be harmed.

MAJIA HERE: The following article confirms the contamination outside the plant.

"High radiation levels around ditches in Fukushima"

http://www3.nhk.or.jp/daily/english/05_09.html

“High radiation levels have been detected above roadside drainage ditches in Fukushima Prefecture, which hosts the crippled nuclear power plant.”

Japan's Nuclear Safety Commission tested radiation levels in the air about 1 meter from the ground at a business district in the prefectural capital on May 24th and 25th.

The test detected radiation of 3 to 4 microsieverts per hour above ditches covered with mud and fallen leaves. The level reached nearly 100 microsieverts in the mud. It is believed that radioactive dust has accumulated in the mud and leaves….

MAJIA HERE: NO REAL NEWS IN THE ARTICLE BELOW AS FAR AS I CAN TELL.

Pressure in No.1 reactor drops close to atmosphere

http://www3.nhk.or.jp/daily/english/05_08.html

"Tokyo Electric Power Company has found that pressure inside the Number 1 reactor at its Fukushima Daiichi power plant has dropped to close to the outside atmospheric pressure. It reaffirms that the reactor has been damaged...."
